제4회 프리즈 서울이 120여 개 글로벌 리딩 갤러리의 참여 속에 성황리에 개막했다. 프리뷰 데이에는 주요 컬렉터와 기관, 아티스트, 문화계 인사, K-pop 스타들이 대거 참석해 서울이 아시아 미술 시장의 중심지임을 다시 한번 입증했으며, 한국과 국제 기관, 컬렉터 간의 긴밀한 연결을 강화했다.

FRIEZE SEOUL 2025: PREVIEW DAY SELECT SALES AND HIGHLIGHTS
Seoul, South Korea (September 3, 2025) – Led by Director Patrick Lee, Frieze Seoul
returned to COEX with its fourth edition to host over 120 leading galleries that reported
high energy, active collector engagement and strong sales on the fair’s preview day.
The fair welcomed major collectors, institutional leaders, artists, cultural heavyweights
and K-pop idols, reaffirming Seoul’s central position as Asia’s vital meeting point in the
global art calendar and strengthening connections between Korean and international
institutions and collectors. Beyond the gallery presentations, Frieze Seoul’s curated
programme highlighted the breadth of artistic voices and practices shaping today’s
cultural landscape – spanning live art and performances by Yagwang, Younghae
Chang, Jimin Hah, Sojin Kwak and Ru Kim, a project by artist duo Moon Kyungwon &
Jeon Joonho, which will unfold across the duration of the fair, and a new site-specific
installation by Liam Gillick – positioning Seoul not only as a market center but also as
a platform for global artistic exchange.

institutions across Asia including Mark Bradford’s triptych, Okay, then I
apologize (2025) for $4,500,000, George Condo’s Purple Sunshine (2025) for
$1,200,000, two works on paper by Louise Bourgeois for $950,000 and
$600,000 each, a work by Rashid Johnson for $750,000, an Avery Singer
painting for $475,000, an Angel Otero painting for $285,000, a Cathy
Josefowitz painting for $120,000, a Jeffrey Gibson painting for $85,000, a
Lee Bul sculpture for $400,000 and a painting for $300,000 and a Rita
Ackermann mixed-media work on canvas.
● Hakgojae sold KIM Whanki’s Cloud and the Moon (1962) for ₩2,000,000,000
(approximately $1,400,000) and a Song Hyun-Sook work for €70,000.
● Thaddaeus Ropac reported selling multiple works, such as Georg Baselitz’s
painting Es ist dunkel, es ist (2019) for €1,800,000, an Alex Katz painting for
$900,000, two Martha Jungwirth works for €340,000 and €60,000 each, two
works by Joan Snyder for $160,000 and $60,000 each, a work by Tom Sachs
for $90,000, a Zadie Xa work for £70,000, a Heemin Chung work for $30,000
and a work on paper by Antony Gormley for £25,000.
● Kukje Gallery sold 15 works, including a Jenny Holzer in the range of
$400,000 to $480,000, a painting by Ha Chong-Hyun in the range of $230,000
to $276,000, two fabric works by Louise Bourgeois in the range of $100,000
to $120,000 each, two works by Kibong Rhee in the range of $90,000 to
108,000 each, a work on paper by Gala Porras-Kim in the range of $60,000 to
$72,000, a work by Kyungah Ham in the range of $45,000 to $54,000, two
works by Kim Yun Shin in the range of $30,000 to $36,000 and $20,000 to
$24,000 respectively, two photo collage on canvas works by Heejoon Lee in

● White Cube sold Georg Baselitz’s Erstens, bitte schön (2014) for €1,300,000,
an Antony Gormley sculpture for £250,000, a bronze by Tracey Emin for
£220,000, and a work on canvas by Zhou Li for $55,000.
● Mennour sold a Lee Ufan for €600,000, an Ugo Rondinone for $200,000, a
work by Alicja Kwade for €90,000, and a Petrit Halilaj for €35,000.
● Gladstone Gallery sold multiple paintings by Maureen Gallace for $100,000
each, multiple Ugo Rondinone works for $70,000, a Rachel Rose painting for
$55,000, a Gillian Carnegie painting for $50,000, two works by George Condo
in a range of $20,000 to $100,000 each, and multiple works on paper by David
Rappeneau in a range of $16,500 to $32,000.
● Gallery Hyundai sold work by Chung Sang-Hwa in the region of $600,000 and
work by John Pai in the region of $300,000.
● Tina Kim Gallery reported multiple sales, including a Kim Tschang Yeul
painting for $350,000, a Ha Chong-Hyun painting for $390,000, a Kang Seok
Ho painting for $60,000, a Pacita Abad painting for $35,000, and a Suki
Seokyeong Kang sculpture for $17,000.
● Linseed, a first time exhibitor in Focus Asia, sold a majority of its solo booth of
paintings by Liang Lu, in a range from $34,000 to $6,500.
● ThisWeekendRoom sold a Jinhee Kim painting in a range of €18,000 to
€20,000, and works by Jiwon Choi and Seoul Kim, both in a range of €17,000
to €19,000.
● David Zwirner sold new works by Katherine Bernhardt, Huma Bhabha,
Oscar Murillo and Walter Price, important works by Michaël Borremans,
Marlene Dumas and Wolfgang Tillmans, and a painting by Lucas Arruda.
● Sprüth Magers sold two Barbara Kruger works for $500,000 and $100,000
respectively, a Gala Porras-Kim for $120,000, two paintings by Hyun-Sook
Song for €65,000 and €75,000 respectively, a Mire Lee mixed-media work for
€30,000, a painting by Henni Alftan for $50,000, and a Kaari Upson for $4,800
● Pace Gallery reported multiple sales including a Mary Corse for $225,000, a
sculpture by Robert Indiana at $195,000, a painting by Robert Nava at
$185,000, a painting by Friedrich Kunath at $115,000, a Pam Evelyn painting
for $85,000, a sculpture by Alicja Kwade for $75,000, a painting by Mika
Tajima for $60,000, a Kylie Manning painting for $40,000, and three
sculptures by Kohei Nawa for $18,000 each.
● Lisson Gallery had success, selling a Hiroshi Sugimoto for $250,000, two
works by Leiko Ikemura for €140,000 and €70,000 respectively, two paintings
by Oliver Lee Jackson painting for $75,000 and $50,000 respectively, a Sarah
Cunningham painting for $30,000, and two works by Olga de Amaral,
including AMAR110002, their highest sale at the fair.
● Lehmann Maupin reported multiple sales, including Allegory, a beaded work
on canvas by Liza Lou in a range of $240,000 to $260,000, a Hernan Bas
painting entitled The biased audience (watching the dog show) for $225,000,
Red Chemise by David Sale in a range of $130,000 to $170,000, a sculpture
entitled Big Hug (rusted) by Tom Friedman for $55,000, a painting from Lari
Pittman’s thought-forms series in a range of $40,000 to $50,000, five paintings
by Kim Yun Shin, multiple works by Do Ho Suh sold to collectors based in
Asia and Sung Neung Kyung’s Reading Newspaper in a range of $20,000 to
$25,000.
● Almine Rech reported strong sales, including a mixed-media work on paper by
Minjung Kim in a range of €100,000 to €120,000, a painting by Oliver Beer
for £50,000, a paper on canvas by Youngju Joung in a range of $55,000 to
$65,000, a painting by Szabaolcs Bozó in a range of $30,000 to $40,000 and
a work by Roby Dwi Antono in a range of $40,000 to $50,000.
● Jason Haam sold two works by Moka Lee at $100,000 and $10,000
respectively, and works by Mike Lee for $50,000, Sterling Ruby for $80,000,
Amanda Baldwin for $40,000, and Jihyoung Han for $10,000.
● G Gallery placed six works by Choi Yoonhee ranging from $2,400 to $19,000,
a work by Moon Isaac for $12,000, and a work by Cindy Ji Hye Kim for
$10,000.
● Hive Center for Contemporary Art found success with sales of 18 paintings
and one sculpture in a range of $20,000 to $100,000.
● Leeahn Gallery placed three works, including a work by Lee Jin Woo for
$35,000, a work by Lee Kwangju for $16,000, and a work by Kim Keun-Tai
for $39,000.
● Arario Gallery reported to have placed a number of works by Lee Jinju, Kohei
Nawa, SHIH Yung-Chun, and OK Seungcheol.
● Anomaly sold a large oil on canvas painting by Toshiyuki Konishi for $30,000.
● Showing in the Focus Asia section, Kana Kawanashi Gallery sold two
paintings by Hideo Anze for $5,200 and $3,800 each.
